The problem of passion
is not the what, is how
Passion not only allows a certain person to do the jobs voluntarily, but also to find an impulse to continue working hard every day.
It is common to hear people say that we all come into this world with a single purpose and that we have to find it and develop it. We must turn our passion into our profession. Hence, some people wonder if they are really dedicating their time to what they came here to do, or just wasting it on another passing hobby because they can’t find that thing that makes them feel special and sets them apart from others.
This can lead to an existential void that in some cases becomes impossible to fill. A professional career can be exciting and become the center of our lives, without sacrificing our personal lives. There will be cases in which people have made a mistake when deciding on a profession since their attitudes and skills do not match the demands of their job. There will also be cases in which people feel that their profession is not fulfilling their expectations, not because they have made a mistake, but because they do not have the ideal conditions to enjoy it; they are not passionate about it.
In most cases in which a person feels that they have made a mistake in their profession, the problem is not in the what, but in the how, because they are not realizing that the job can be more than just a means to pay the bills at the end of the month. We all have more than one significant quality and can do more than one thing well. As the proverb would say, no one gets up every morning to be mediocre.
Being a good professional in any field implies never ceasing to train. The desire to know allows us to transform ourselves; it makes us apprentices in life and, therefore, is a condition for the luck and happiness that we can carve out for ourselves. Challenging ourselves and striving to overcome them is one of the wisest and most exciting attitudes in life. There are so many challenges in the world, you may feel overcome or repressed by this, or you may wonder how can we think differently? You need courage to keep trying, even if you are not 100% sure it will work, but keep trying.
That’s how great things have happened. A man decided to go to the moon not because it was easy but because it was hard because he had a passion for what he did not yet know. Our ambitions are a false ceiling of what we can achieve. The worst nightmare we can have is that we are not capable of solving the greatest challenges. Those who achieve success, no matter in which discipline, have an iron determination that works in two ways: on the one hand, they are hardworking and resilient, i.e., flexible and able to adapt to circumstances, and on the other hand, they are very clear about what they want to achieve. People who have a purpose enhance their passion by being convinced that their work is important to other people, and those who have expectations are more perseverant. Don’t let the day end without having grown a little, without having been happy, without having enhanced your dreams. Think that in you is the future and face the task with pride and without fear.
